Why “Crystal Platypus”?

"Crystal Platypus" may sound unusual, but it speaks to my core belief that embracing what makes us unique and powerful maximizes our impact and our smiles.

Platypus are iconic and resist classification. Their blend of one-of-a-kind features allow them to be totally adapted to their environment - thriving both on land and in water. Using their distinctive electrolocation they can sense the ebbs and flows of the water and find food while swimming deaf and blind.

Now, imagine combining that distinctiveness with the ability of crystals to amplify energy in technology. This synergy forms the essence of Crystal Platypus – focusing and amplifying your unique strengths to navigate business currents and achieve your goals.

At Crystal Platypus we re-write broken expectations about what work is and who we need to be to succeed.

In business, the “waters” feel murky when we rely on our eyes and intellect instead of our full repertoire of talents.

Why Me?

As a Leadership Sculptor, I specialize in guide small and midsize business leaders to sculpt their presence, polish their results, and reveal hidden potential. Similar to shaping a gemstone, we chip away outdated perspectives, habits, and toxic dynamics to reveal the masterpiece within.

I’ve been in the trenches with operational leaders and their struggles during my former Human Resources career. I found the power of perception, effective communications, and relationships to either pull people together or drive them apart. Building on that experience and over the last six years at Crystal Platypus / Verdantu Coaching, I’ve honed the ability to guide my clients to create new work experiences and evolve their work environments. We capitalize on their strengths, leadership and personal style, and how they define the impact they want to achieve for themselves and everyone around them.  Work may feel “toxic” at times, but by changing your awareness of the currents you can change the “Ph balance” of the waters.

I’m a Midwesterner who values hard work, but also knows the stress of riding the roller coaster of multiple, conflicting demands.  I’ve lived the reality of being a single mother to twins while building my HR career and as I took the leap into a new career.   I’ve learned that work doesn’t end when you leave the office, as well as the importance of being multi-dimensional. This was first spotlighted when I attended a work study college where you had to be successful academically, socially, and at your campus job.

I'm committed to continuously growing my expertise - holding multiple certifications in coaching and building my knowledge of personal empowerment and leadership rather than simply relying on first-hand experiences. With a background spanning multiple industries, I recognize the importance of tailoring solutions to the culture and needs of each organization and the people involved.

What is it like to work with me?

  • Lisa Schuller is a gifted coach whose keen perception, insight, and creative problem-solving enabled me to discover my overlooked strengths, interests, and abilities. Her strong listening skills and ability to ask the right questions is extremely helpful in me clarifying and advancing toward my goals.

  • I only have positive things to say about our experience with Lisa. I appreciate her flexibility and ability to always look at a situation from multiple sides. It was incredibly helpful that she didn’t simply give an answer but helped me drill down to the root of an issue and examine what was really going on so that I am less reactive.

  • Lisa is one of the most facilitative coaches I’ve worked with. Through her adept listening and insight, she helped me clarify the goals & priorities for my business. Her skill at asking powerful questions often generated many “light-bulb” moments. Lisa is innately talented at establishing process and that’s something I really needed when establishing my business plan. She helped me to keep moving forward and put my thoughts into action.

  • The biggest impact working with Lisa has had on me is that I now can see a world of possibilities in my work life. I felt dead-in-the-water when we first started. Because of her seeing and reflecting my capabilities, I see them now too, and I feel a sense of empowerment that I didn’t feel before.

  • There’s a lot of coaches out there. They have a “proven formula” that you need only follow to succeed. Lisa Schuller is not that kind of coach. She asks a lot of thought-provoking questions, digging down deep to find out who you really are, and what makes you unique. Rather than a “one size fits all” approach, she helps you hone in on your specific, unique gifts, talents and passions.
